Club History

Garforth Rangers AFC was formed in 1996 and boasts a development squad, a junior section, and an established senior setup. In 2013, the Club was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee known as Garforth Rangers Association Football Club Limited.

The club was awarded FA Charter Standard Development Club status in 2002, and we proudly upgraded to the FA Charter Standard Community Club status in 2008.  This is the highest possible standard that the FA awards to grass routes clubs and a status we maintain to this day.

The development squad is the future of the club, and boys and girls aged 4 – 6 learn to play football with a smile under the guidance of fully qualified coaches.  Training is on a Saturday morning and held throughout the season on the Astro surface at Garforth Academy.

The club’s junior section caters to boys and girls aged 7 to 18. Teams currently compete in the Garforth Junior League, the West Riding Girls League, and the Selby Junior League.

The club’s teams have won league titles and cups in Garforth Junior League, Charles Rice League & West Riding Girls Football League.  In season 2005/06 the club’s U12, U14 & U16 sides created Barkston Ash FA history by winning the District’s Leigh Walker Cup, Deighton Shield & Junior Cup competitions. It was the first time in its 100+ year history that the same club held the District’s 3 Junior competitions in one season.

In 2009, the club’s U14 Boys won the West Riding County FA Junior Trophy. Over 100 teams entered the competition.

The club also has a well-developed senior set-up, with senior teams in the Yorkshire Amateur League (a step seven league representing the initial formal tier of the Football League pyramid), the West Riding Flexi League, and the West Riding U21 league.

Our first senior ladies' team was formed in 2018 and plays in the West Riding Women's League.

The club continues to grow and is now actively looking to develop a facility in Garforth to provide football opportunities for all.
