Garfoth Rangers Under 14’s Season Review

2007-2008 was our last season in the Garforth League, before we moved on in to the Leeds & District.  We have had a mixed season coming fourth rather than top which was within our sights, but the high number of games at the end of the season due to the poor weather conditions during the winter period and cup games was clearly too much for the team and results did not go our way.  We had another good run in the Barkston Ash Cup getting to the Final, playing against Wetherby.  On what could only be described as the hottest day of the year we came unstuck even with the stops for water in both halves.  The team gave everything they could to win on the day but injuries; the weather and a very good Wetherby team got the better of us.

The highlight of the year was our trip to Holland at Easter.  The weather was unpredictable from the onset with our initial delay going out due to a freak storm over the airport, to the snow which came down almost every night, but we still managed to play football, even managed to see National team Kazakhstan who played against England in the World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year playing a local Dutch team. Everyone had a very enjoyable time whether playing football or throwing fellow players into the cold plunge pool in the Centre Parks Complex.

This Season once again I must thank our team sponsor AMK Maintenance for their continuing support of the team, supplying a new Home kit for this season, many thanks Neil.
