The new season for the under 15 Whites boys will start with high expectations because of last years experience in playing league football, we will look forward to this season with the existing lads and some new players bringing strength to the team to play in the Garforth Junior League division 4.

This year team manager Chris Berriman will be aided by Jason Middlewood on the coaching side.

The lads have all shown over the previous years that their playing skills have much improved, and this has resulted in a decision to take part in league and cup football this year.

25-09-11 Challenge Cup

The first cup game of the season and after a first league game victory last week Rangers were on a high but in the back of their minds they were worried that only 2 weeks previos Beckwithshaw had beat them 0-4 in the first game of the season. This did not stop Rangers as they came out with all gun’s blazing and pushed hard and deep to keep off the attack from Beckwithshaw, after around ten minutes there was not much between the teams but eventualy after a scrappy scrum in the Rangers goal mouth they did find the back of our net. I must honestly say I put my head in my hand and thought here we go again and the lads heads will go down and it would be another sad story ! but ‘oh’ no, they came back with spirit and determination and the first return goal came from another scrappy scrum this time in their goal mouth and we drew back the defesit. The next and last 15 minutes of the first half witnessed by all the spectators was an absolute pleasure to watch as new lad Joe Ellender put the ball in the back of their net twice after the best football ever played from also new lad Joe Ellender and Man Of The Match Jamie Middlewood on the right wing passing between them like they owned the ball. With only 2 minutes to go another fine pass to Matthew Harvey to slot the 4th goal giving Rangers a 4-1 lead into half time. The second half started the same as the first with Beckwithshaw collecting another scrappy goal and their spirit was raised as Garforth had to brace the constant hard atttack from them for the next 30 minutes. This was again a hard task as Beckwithshaw had every player including their keeper in the Garforth half attacking our goal, this was again a true respect to the spitit to Garforth as they kept their cool and kept possesion as much as possible and instead of hoofing the ball up the field they kept passing the ball around their opponents and made the last 20 minutes stay within their half. This determination from Garforth kept the score line at a blistering 4-2 to give them the well deserved win and for the very first time in this teams history a promotion to the next round in a cup game. It has been a long time since this team has had match reports to boast about, but we feel this will be the way forward.

18-09-11 league

In a pulsating game full of drama Garforth Rangers dug deep to gain a deserved 4-3 win against Leeds City Juniors. After 20 minutes there was nothing between these sides with equal chances created and possession shared. A Tom Smith brace broke the deadlock within the first half hour with two fine finishes but Leeds City Juniors got back in to the game with two goals in quick succession giving Leeds the momentum. This was followed by Matthew Harvey producing a fine goal from a corner for Rangers, but Leeds got an equaliser minutes later entering the half time at 3-3. The second half was just as tight, Garforth raised there heads and continued to battle with some fantastic passing and got their reward with another fine finish from Tom Smith completing is hatrick 15 minutes from time. A tense finish was felt by all fans and when the final whistle blew and the relief was evident. All 12 players played there part and dug deep and were rewarded with a deserved win, and MAN OF THE MATCH Tom Davies in Goal kept the winning score with several amazing dives and kept his cool to keep the ball out of the back of the net, If the team continue with the same spirit and belief this will be a good season.

Well Done Lads !!!
