Stanley United     : 3

Garforth Rangers: 5

Charles Rice League Sunday April 27th 2008

Rangers continued their impressive run of good football in their final league game of the season. Having previously beaten Stanley 1-0 in a close home game, the challenge was to produce a similarly close game in the face of wet weather and a muddy pitch. Stanley started the strongest with early pressure on Declan and Kieran who defended well. A good shot still got through though and Adam made a great save. Jack and Ben got into the game in midfield and passes forward found Max and Sam looking to attack. On one of these attacks Sam took the ball down the left before crossing to Max who only just missed with a flick at the near post. Stanley came back and there was a mad scramble in the Ranger’s box with 3 or 4 players failing to clearing the danger. When it was finally cleared Sam found himself counter-attacking up the right before crossing for Max to tap home for the opening goal after 8 minutes. Adam then made another good save to keep the lead before the Max and Sam combination produced another goal. This time it was Max who played in Sam to make it 2-0 after 12 minutes.

Liam and Andrew came on to give Ben and Max a breather and both pushed forward when they could. Jack was next to shoot and the keeper made a good save to push the ball over the bar for a corner. Declan made some excellent challenges as Stanley attacked but a player coming through from midfield without a marker had a free run to make it 2-1 in the 19th minute. Stanley were attacking well now and the referee somehow found 3 minutes of added time, during which Stanley equalised after 22 minutes after another phase where Rangers were slow to challenge. Joe came on at half time and Ben resumed in midfield with Kieran and Jack taking a rest, but Stanley again started the stronger although Declan and Joe combined well to repeatedly win the ball. Teamplay was once again producing some flowing football and Sam got the all–important goal to put Rangers back in front after 6 minutes. Within a minute another good attack from Rangers saw Andrew just beat Ben to a loose ball and prod home to make it 4-2. A couple of good saves by the Stanley keeper were matched by a couple of good saves from Adam as both teams searched for more goals.

Kieran Jack and Max came back on for a final surge and Rangers looked to be in full control now although Stanley tried hard to find a way through. With four minutes to go Sam’s shot was parried by the keeper and this time Ben won the race to pounce on the loose ball and make it 5-2.In the final seconds though Stanley had a shot that deflected off a Rangers hand to a free player who made sure of a goal without resorting to a penalty.  Both teams played some good attacking football especially in the conditions, and shook hands after putting on yet another great show for the spectators, well done both teams.

All players deserved a man-of-the-match vote today and Captain of the Day Adam got the most votes to be player of the match for some great saves, confirming that he must be one of the best goalies in the division. Sam won team-player of the match for his willingness to drop back from attack to help his team-mates as well as his determination to get the ball forward.

Squad: Adam, Declan, Kieran, Joe, Ben, Liam, Jack, Andrew, Sam, Max.

Hemsworth Miners: 2

Garforth Rangers: 1

Charles Rice League Sunday April 20th 2008

For the fourth game in a row Rangers served up some pulsating football with supporters on both sides surely getting more enjoyment than a professional game could bring. After suffering our biggest defeat against Hemsworth in a 6-0 home defeat way back in October it was testament to have far the boys had progressed as a team when both teams played some determined and equally matched football for the first 16 minutes. Rangers had chances to take the lead when Captain of the day Sam, and Max, were both unlucky not to score. Ben and Jack also came close from midfield and both had great games on a large pitch. Adam gave another confident keeping display, while Joe and Kieran kept things tight at the back with some well-timed tackles and interceptions. Declan Liam and Andrew came on for their turns and all immediately got in on the action. But Hemsworth took the lead when the up-the-then tenacious tackling paused long enough for the ball to find its way into the net. As the second half started, Rangers were still confident of getting a goal such was their teamwork. Sam and Andy went close but Hemsworth got a 2nd after 8 minutes.  Adam then made a brave save, coming out so fast to close down a player that the ball rebounded off him into touch.  Declan defended well against some tricky players down the right and with 3 minutes left a last gasp tactical change was made to try to grab a point.  Sam came back on and was joined by Liam up front, with Jack coming back on into midfield, Andrew and Max taking a breather after running the home defence ragged. A good move involving for ot five Rangers players ended with Sam smashing the ball into the top corner of the net on 17 minutes to set up an exciting finish. The next attack saw a Liam shot that was followed up by Sam who hit the post.   And just as Rangers were about to shoot from midfield the whistle went for full time (was it early?), and the ball hit the back of the net for what would have been a deserved point.    But that’s football, and once again the boys had done themselves proud with a great effort. Well done to both teams for a great game of football, where the only free kicks were goal kicks and corners.

In a close run vote for player of the match Joe just came out on top after another determined effort. Jack won team-player of the match for a solid game in midfield, supporting both attack and defence.  With one game still to go, the season seems to have approached the end too fast, just as the boys are getting into full swing.  Or have I spoken too soon !

Squad: Adam, Declan, Kieran, Joe, Ben, Liam, Jack, Andrew, Sam, Max.

Kippax Athletic: 2

Garforth Rangers: 0

Charles Rice League            Thursday April 17th 2008

Rangers started well on a wet and muddy pitch with Sam sending a follow-up shot thundering against the crossbar. However Kippax took a lucky lead when the ball seemed to take a deflection following a corner. Captain of the day Joe tackled well throughout the game as did Declan who also set up the next goalscoring chance when moving into midfield to centre for Jack who’s shot narrowly missed. A good tackle saw Joe bring the ball forward before releasing a pass to Andrew who darted forward into the penalty area to be stopped by a last gasp tackle. Despite this pressure Kippax went two up with a good move down their left.  Adam then made a good save to prevent further scoring and also organised his team-mates well at corners. Jack put in a determined display by dropping back into midfield to make tackles to try and set up some attacks while Liam and Ben tried hard in midfield along with Sam.  Kieran and Max came on to keep the level of effort high and in the second half made their mark with good interceptions and runs forward respectively. Adam made the save of the game when diving to his right to turn a goal-bound shot away for a corner and also made sure he wasn’t deceived by long range shots zipping off the slippery surface.

Although the boys couldn’t find a way through, it was yet again another good team effort by all involved.

Joe won player of the match for a strong tackling display and reading of the game as well as encouraging his team-mates. Adam won team-player of the match for beating the conditions with some good saves and also encouraging his team-mates.

That ends the midweek night matches for the boys and they’ve performed well in both games.  Well done boys.

Squad: Adam, Declan, Kieran, Joe, Ben, Liam, Andrew, Jack, Sam, Max.

Rothwell Juniors: 2

Charles Rice League Sunday April 13th 2008

Before Rangers could get into their stride Rothwell took an early lead when a corner was sliced into the net for an own goal. But from then on Rangers had most of the attacking play before eventually equalising in the 19th minute.  Sam started the attempts on goal when his free kick was tipped over by the keeper. Sam then played Liam in who’s shot went just over the bar.  Adam made some clearances but Declan Kieran and Captain of the day Joe helped keep things mainly tight at the back with timely tackles and pushed up to support midfield when they could. Andrew and Ben both had shots following good interchanges of passing amongst the team. The opening goal came when Sam shot from the right and another own goal levelled the score.

In the second half Jack and Sam combined well and Sam’s early goal-bound shot was deflected for a corner. The next attack finished with Liam passing to Jack who made it 2-1 with a well taken goal.  A few minutes later and Sam made it 3-1 but it wasn’t all one way traffic as Adam made an important save when it looked as though Rothwell might score. More good passing moves resulted in Sam scoring again to make it 4-1. But Rothwell still fought back when a breakaway ended with Adam making a great save but Rothwell were first to the loose ball to make it 4-2. A shot from Liam was parried head height and Andrew stormed in to head home for Rangers 5th.  All the boys deserved a man of the match vote for their second half teamwork but Sam won the award for his determined play and goals.  Andrew was awarded teamplayer of the match for another impressive display.

Squad: Adam, Declan, Kieran, Joe, Ben, Liam, Andrew, Jack, Sam.

Stanley United: 0

Charles Rice League            Wednesday April 9th 2008

After a close run game on Sunday when Rangers didn’t get the roll of the ball, tonight’s game was the opposite with Rangers having a little bit of luck (for a change) as Stanley saw a handful of shots saved or go tantalisingly close. Captain of the day Harry started off up front with Max and both looked likely to cause a problem for the visiting defence with some determined passing and running onto through balls.  Ben and Andrew started in midfield and looked for space when in possession and tracked back when needed.  Declan and Joe started off in defence and made some good early tackles to make sure Stanley didn’t take an early lead. Adam made some good saves at various points of the game and once again kept a clean sheet in a home victory. A good pass forward from Harry to Max ended when Max opened the scoring for what proved to be the only goal of the game. Huge excitement for both sets of parents followed though as both teams produced some good football. Kieran, Liam and Jack joined the action and all contributed well to the team effort as Rangers held a slim half time lead. In the second half more determined play from Rangers helped maintain the lead and Harry was unlucky on two occasions when on another day he might have scored. Ben, Liam, Andrew Jack and Max also looked to get on the score-sheet while the defensive four kept their concentration to protect their goal-line well.

A great cheer went up when the whistle finally went and the boys shook hands after a very close game. Man of the match was awarded to Kieran for his part in keeping a clean sheet, while Harry just shaded Team-player of the match.

The boys seemed to enjoy playing an evening game with comments “that was my first night match” and “its like finishing a real game” referring to the cheers at the final whistle from the capacity crowd in the “West Stand”. The win also moved us two places up the table, lets see if we can hold that position with four games to go.

Squad: Adam, Declan, Joe, Kieran, Ben, Liam, Andrew, Max, Jack, Harry.

Rothwell Juniors: 3

Garforth Rangers: 2

Charles Rice League Sunday April 6th 2008

Both teams were evenly matched in a close and exciting game. Rothwell opened the scoring after 3 minutes but Rangers stuck to their task and Jack equalised on 9 minutes. End to end action followed as parents were treated to an exciting game of football with all boys putting all their energy into the game. In the second half Rothwell took an early lead as Rangers were unable to clear the danger in a bit of a scramble. Ben almost equalised with a shot that went just over the bar. More Ranger’s pressure resulted in a corner and Harry was unlucky with is glancing header from Ben’s pinpoint cross. Almost against the run of play Rothwell broke and despite valiant efforts to clear the danger they went 3-1 up. A few more corners from Rangers indicated the game wasn’t over though, and on one occasion the ball flashed across what would have been an open goal if only one of the Rangers players could have stuck their toe out. A good run from Harry, cutting inside and placing his shot, saw the game set up for a nail-biting final 2 minutes as the score was pegged back to 3-2 but it wasnt to be Rangers day as the passes were just a touch too long on a number of occasions.

All boys played well though, with Adam making some brave saves, Declan Joe and Kieran tackling and intercepting well in defence, Ben and Andrew competing well in midfield, with Liam also covering a lot of ground as he supported attacks but always got back to cover right side of midfield so that the defenders could concentrate on the main danger in the middle. Harry Max and Jack all caused the home defence some problems and on a good day could have scored more goals with the same amount of effort.

Voting was once again close with captain of the day Declan being awarded Man of the Match for a determined display of tackling especially in the first half, and Adam picking up the Teamplayer award for some brave and confident goalkeeping.

Squad: Adam, Declan, Joe, Kieran, Ben, Liam, Andrew, Max, Jack, Harry.

Tingley Tigers         : 5

Charles Rice League Sunday March 30th 2008

Two weeks without a game showed as Rangers were off the pace, coming off second best in the first half to a quick moving and passing Tigers team.  A free kick in the first minute was pumped forward and Tingley went ahead with an unchallenged header.  The scarcity of challenges throughout the team in the first half resulted in another 3 goals to Tingley, although it could be said that Rangers were unlucky with two of them.

After checking at half time that we all understood what we intended to do in the first half, Rangers finally came alive in the second half and played the kind of football that they’ve showed they can. Adam became more confident in the net and easily stopped anything coming his way. Declan and Joe tackled well, even when outnumbered, and also supported their teammates with some forward play when they could. Ben Liam and Andrew competed better with Tingley’s midfield and Max Jack and Harry began to look for the ball to take on the Tingley defence. Max, and Harry twice, had early shots at goal before our next attack saw Liam clip a defender’s head with a chip shot that beat the keeper at the far post. Soon after, with Rangers applying the pressure now, a good move involving Andrew and Harry allowed Liam to put the finishing touches to another attack to put us back in the game 4-2. Liam then had a long freekick that just missed but at the other end Adam had to make a great save diving to his left to turn a shot round the post. Further good teamwork from all the boys unfortunately didn’t produce any more goals and then in the last minute Tingley got their 5th when a player skilfully turned the ball into the net from an acute angle after nipping in between a defender and goalie. If only Rangers could have started better, their performance in the second half showed what they might have been capable of.

Voting was close this week between 5 players but Andrew shaded Man of the Match for yet another improved performance where he excelled this time in midfield. Liam was voted Teamplayer of the match for his overall determination.

Squad: Adam, Declan, Joe, Ben, Liam, Andrew, Max, Jack, Harry.

Garforth Rangers        : 4

South Leeds Pythons  : 0

Charles Rice League Sunday March 9th 2008

Rangers’ excellent teamwork resulted in a deserved win and a second clean sheet for Adam who was generally well protected by his defence but still had to make a sliding save to turn the ball for a corner when Pythons looked likely to score. His positioning also made another save look easy and his long clearances turned defence in to attack.

Declan, Kieran and Joe all had equal amounts of time pairing up in defence and all three worked well with each other and also made important tackles and clearances as well as good passes to their midfield team-mates. In midfield Ben, Liam and Sam took up good positions and were always ready to move the ball forward with dribbling runs that often pinned the visitors back in their half.

Andrew and Max gradually got into the game up front and started to make runs to receive passes. Jack took to the pitch slightly earlier than planned when Max seemed to pull a muscle and had to come off for a while, but Jack grasped his chance when he ran onto a through ball to pick his spot and power the ball home for Rangers’ opener after 10 minutes. Jack and Andrew were both unlucky to not increase the lead following excellent work from midfield to set up further attacks, but soon after Jack scored an almost identical goal to his first and Rangers were two up after 13 minutes. Pythons tried hard to get back into the game but Rangers team work saw everyone working well for each other and further good football sequences finally resulted in Andrew finishing off a move just before half time to make it 3-0.

Rangers started the second half on attack and a combination effort from the two scorers in the first minute brought another goal when Andrew’s shot took a slight deflection that allowed the keeper and a defender to almost get to it but, fortunately for Rangers, not until the ball had just crossed the line. The rest of the game continued to be exciting with more good football from both teams and although Rangers were mostly on top they had to be on full alert as Pythons had two players who always looked dangerous coming forward.

All players deserved to share the team player of the match award as everyone worked hard at their own game and their teamwork. Player of the Match went to Jack for a vastly improved overall effort as well as his two well-taken goals.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Joe, Ben, Liam, Sam, Andrew, Max, Jack.

Ackworth                : 6

Garforth Rangers : 3

Charles Rice League Sunday February 24th 2008

Rangers started strongly and created a number of chances with the front pairing of Harry and Jack having early shots on goal. Liam also supported well from midfield and had a shot well saved by the keeper when it looked a certain goal.  Harry then went on another dribbling run and hit the side netting with a strong shot. Declan and Kieran were working well in defence and Ben once again covered a lot of ground in midfield. Adam was finally brought into action and made a good save from a close range shot.

Andrew and Joe came on to keep things going in attack and defence, and another Ackworth attack resulted in Declan making a vital tackle to keep the home side out. Harry then had another shot saved before going on yet another run to finish clinically and Rangers were 1-0 ahead after 15 minutes. Just as it looked like we’d turn round ahead Ackworth equalised on the stroke of half time.

Ackworth started strongly in the second half and went 2-1 up after 5 minutes then scored again after 10 minutes.  Ben almost pulled a goal back with a shot that the keeper saved, and then Rangers had to do some stout defending for a while until Harry scored from a difficult angle when cutting in from the right.  With 5 minutes to go (of normal time) Rangers looked confident of equalising but on 20 minutes Ackworth surged forward with numbers and made it 4-2.

A generous amount of extra time followed in which Ackworth scored again after 21 minutes and then again after 24 minutes, but it wasn’t all one-way traffic as Rangers attacked again and Liam scored on 25 minutes before the ref called it a day.

Ben was voted player of the match for another good display in midfield and Harry was voted teamplayer of the match for his impressive attacking play and two goals.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Joe, Ben, Liam, Andrew, Jack, Harry.

Tingley Tigers       : 5

Garforth Rangers: 2

Sunday February 10th 2008Charles Rice League

Both teams started with attacking football on what turned out to be a warm sunny morning, but Tingley got the breakthrough after 7 minutes. Captain of the day Joe had to leave the field after being unable to shake off his early morning illness, and the remaining 7 had to knuckle down to see the match out with no subs.

Tingley scored another two goals in quick succession to go 3-0 up, Adam being very unlucky with the 3rd.  A minute later though, some good work from Max and Ben was finished off with an unstoppable shot from Liam. With Jack and Max now causing Tingley some problems and Liam and Ben supporting from midfield, Rangers at last looked to be on top. Kieran and Declan began to win all their challenges and for a while Rangers looked the better side.

Strong running and determination from Max caused another opening and Jack got onto the final pass to finish powerfully, and Rangers were now back in the game.  However a run by a Tingley attacker wasn’t challenged by the defence and he gratefully accepted the opportunity to score to make it 4-2.  The second half was a much tighter affair with both teams competing well in an end to end game. Adam made the save of the match when from a corner he made a point blank save to put the ball over the bar. Even the away supporters gave him a round of applause for that one.  Tingley finally sealed their victory in the final moments, but under the circumstances down to 7 players for the biggest part of the game on a warm day, the boys played very well again.

Liam was awarded player of the match for the second week running, and Ben awarded teamplayer of the match for another non-stop teamwork effort in midfield.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Joe, Ben, Liam, Max, Jack.

Walton Wolves     : 3

Sunday February 3rd 2008,Charles Rice League

With Rangers home pitches unplayable, Walton kindly offered to host the fixture, and the boys put up another good performance this time against the team that may well finish 1st or 2nd in the league. Captain of the Day Sam competed well in midfield and defence, picking up a few knocks for his bravery. Andrew had yet another improving game in midfield and Ben protected the defence well in addition to moving forward into the opposing half.  Liam ran his socks off in midfield and up front, and was awarded player of the match, while Jack looked for openings up front.  Kieran and Joe were solid in defence, breaking up almost every attack, and Adam made some good saves again. He had no chance with the first goal though as after making a great save, Walton were first to the loose ball and found the net despite two Rangers players throwing themselves across the goal-line to try to keep it out.  Excellent teamwork in the second half made Walton dig deep but they were rewarded for their persistence when they capitalised on two slight mistakes to score.

The players and spectators of both teams were a credit to their clubs and after shaking hands at the end of a hard fought but honest game of football (I think there was only 1 free kick for an accidental trip) the boys were rewarded with complimentary hotdogs.  Congratulations to both teams for playing football as it should be played.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Joe, Ben, Sam, Liam, Andrew, Jack.

South Elmsall         : 0

Sunday January 6th 2008,Charles Rice League

Rangers not only recorded their first win of the season but amazingly got it against league leaders South Elmsall. Although Rangers have played good football all season they have not received the rewards that their efforts deserve, often seeing inexperience undoing a good display. But today marked the start of a new year with their first clean sheet plus the much sought after first win. Adam was at his best in goal making some great saves, Declan and Kieran were determined in defence and Sam Ben and Liam competed well in midfield. Captain of the Day Andrew together with Jack and Max looked for openings up front and it was Max who got the all important goal after a long pass into South Elmsall’s half.

Adam was awarded Player of the Match for yet another display of great goalkeeping and Declan received the Teamplayer of the Match for good defending.

WELL DONE BOYS.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Ben, Sam, Liam, Andrew, Jack, Max.

Kippax                     : 4

Sunday December 16th 2007,Charles Rice League Cup

Rangers tried hard but didn’t get any luck in today’s cup game and the competitive match we witnessed between these two teams a few weeks ago was not repeated. Captain of the day Ben got back well when the defence were outpaced but couldn’t stop the ball deflecting into the net.  Despite that disappointment Ben continued to be our most industrious player of the day. Adam could possibly have done better with the second but everyone knows what a difficult job it is in goal at the best of times and Adam made two brilliant saves in the second half to remind everyone what a great goalie he is. I think our only shot of the game came from Sam which was well saved by the keeper. A breakaway as halftime approached saw Kippax score a third goal and a good cross shot in the second half completed the scoring.  With a four-way tie for player of the match the casting vote went to Kieran who made some good tackles in the second half, and Declan won teamplayer of the game for some good marking and organisational play. Sam and Joe tried hard in midfield, and Liam Andrew and Jack did their best when up front. A much needed break gives the boys a few weeks off before the second half of the season starts against league leaders South Elmsall in the new year.

Happy Christmas !!

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Max, Joe, Ben, Sam, Liam, Andrew, Jack.

South Elmsall        : 5

Garforth Rangers : 1

Sunday December 2nd 2007,Charles Rice League

Rangers matched 2nd placed South Elmsall with a magnificent display of football in the first half and although our attempts on goal were limited to a Liam shot and a Sam header, the boys competed well in all departments. All players got a run out in each half, with Kieran and Max defending well, followed by Joe and Declan doing the same, while Ben and the improving Jack held their own in midfield. Andy and Liam started up front and the pocket dynamo’s harassed the home defence well while Harry and Sam added some power and control to attack and midfield respectively. Adam made some good saves too, and it looked like we were going to turn round goalless at half time, but as South Elmsall mounted a final attack with the whistle poised at the referees lips, a generous time extension was allowed for a corner, goalkick and a little more play in our half until South Elmsall finally scored deep into “injury time”.  Playing downhill, Rangers thought they would be able to keep the pressure on but as often happens the opposite was true, with the uphill team getting the better hand. After 2 minutes a weakly defended corner was turned in at the near post without a challenge. But on 5 minutes Liam volleyed over the keeper to pull one back. But the home side restored their lead when their best player on the day took on four Rangers players before slotting home. Ben almost scored from a Harry cross, and several good moves saw Rangers camped in their opponents half. But South Elmsall were dangerous on the break and scored another two before the final whistle.

Despite the score-lines, the boys are playing really well for each other in what is proving to be a league with a very high standard of football, and they continue to receive compliments from opposing managers.  Well done lads, keep it up !

Player of the Match was Captain of the Day Adam for a host of good saves, while Jack won Team-player of the Match for another improved performance, this time from midfield.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Max, Joe, Ben, Liam, Sam, Andrew, Jack, Harry.

Garforth Rangers: 1

Ackworth Juniors: 1

Sunday November 25th 2007,Charles Rice League

Once again, Rangers put on a magnificent display for the spectators who, judging by the volume of positive support and cheering coming from the roped-off West Stand, appeared to thoroughly enjoy the game.  As did the boys, who again all put in a determined teamwork effort and whilst the elusive win did not materialise they all enjoyed themselves in yet another good game. Captain of the day Jack, and Andrew both played well up front and are improving all the time, while Liam and Ben were busy in midfield. Max and Kieran looked solid in defence and Adam gave another consistent display in goal.  The tactics were slightly adjusted today and half way through the first half we made a mass substitution with four players coming off for a rest.  Declan and Joe took over in defence and both tackled well, Sam came into midfield and added a bit of control, while Harry came on up front.  A good attack through the middle ended when Harry fired an unstoppable shot into the net after 14 minutes to give Rangers the lead.  Ackworth kept up to their game though and equalised a minute before half time. The second half was much the same with both teams trying hard for a 2nd goal, and Rangers using their squad to rotate 4 players  midway through the half again.  But despite lots of excitement and effort there were no more goals.

Player of the Match was Ben for another good game in midfield, while Andrew won Team-player of the Match for another improved performance.

Squad: Adam, Kieran, Declan, Max, Joe, Ben, Liam, Sam, Andrew, Jack, Harry.

Garforth Rangers : 1

Bretton Juniors     : 4

Sunday November 18th 2007,Charles Rice League

Undefeated league leaders Bretton had already won the away fixture 3-0 but once again they complimented Rangers on what was another close game. Jack had the first shot of the match as Rangers started well, with Captain of the Day Andrew following up and almost getting to the rebound. Ben and Liam played well again in midfield and pushed forward when we were in possession and got back when we weren’t. Kieran made a slide tackle to put the ball out for a corner when Bretton looked to be through and Adam organised the defence well to make sure everyone was marked and Declan cleared. The game continued to be close until the 11th minute when a cross from our left was mis-judged by Rangers and left a simple tap-in for Bretton’s opener. A minute later another pass was missed and although there was doubt that the final shot had crossed the line Rangers should have really cleared it before then.  Max, Joe and Harry came on into defence, midfield and attack as 3 players took a breather, and fresh legs seemed to restore the balance a little. But Bretton still attacked and Adam made good saves from two successive corners.  At the start of the 2nd half Kieran and Ben made crucial tackles and then Jack found himself through on goal but didn’t quite get enough power into his shot to trouble the keeper. Adam then made another good save when a Bretton player unleashed a fast shot on the run. Next, it was Harry’s turn to unleash a shot on the run but again the Bretton keeper saved. Bretton then scored two unstoppable goals in the next 3 minutes to seal the win, first from a long range looping shot that just beat Adam’s up-stretched fingers then a similar effort from a free kick. Once again though Rangers showed their determination and team-play, and won a penalty for handball (that looked outside the area to be fair), so there could be no complaints when the keeper excellently saved from Harry’s hard shot. Adam then made another save from a corner before we launched some more attacks. First Joe set Harry away with Andy backing up to receive a cross, then Liam crossed but the ball was put out for a corner. Another run by Harry though finally brought a reward as he scored in off the post.  Adam finished off the game with yet another save as the boys took satisfaction from yet another good performance and a good game.

Player of the Match was Kieran for some good defending, while Jack won Teamplayer of the Match for another improved performance.
